I’m starting to think Mike White is just hard to work with, the music composer for the first 3 seasons also left over “creative differences”

the music composer for the first 3 seasons

Also did the score for Utopia (UK) which is all-time great TV, and at least the theme for the american Dirk Gently series, which I also loved.

They really were, I’m pretty sure they were arguing about whether to put in the “wee-woos” which is kind of hilarious.

They might keep the theme tune or have someone else rework it. Changing artists doesnt always mean a new artistic direction.

I guess I will have to wait to see which character she was playing, but I’m a little surprised she was cast in the first place. She doesn’t immediately strike me as an actor who’d be a good fit for that show.

I’m curious why? She has done great in both dramatic and comedic roles, as well as dark comedy, which I think would work well with White Lotus.

I just don’t associate her with this type of comedy, nor can I imagine her doing it well. I’ve only ever seen her do serious drama or, as you say, sort of zany, over the top dark comedy stuff. The White Lotus requires actors that can do a specific type of satire well. They need to be able to play something like a serious role but simultaneously make themselves a comedic figure. Their performance needs to feel like they’re taking it seriously while we’re all watching from the outside in just laughing at them.
